In a bid to secure coal amid domestic supply crunch, steel major Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL) has booked 150,000 t of themal coal each from South Africa and Mozambique to be delivered for both May and June, as per media reports. Amid limited coal inventory at the steelmaker’s sponge iron units in Odisha and Chhattisgarh, DRI capacity utilisation has reduced to 40%.
