Jindal Stainless has entered into a technical assistance agreement with Japan’s JFE Steel Corporation to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities for selected ferritic stainless steel grades.
Under the agreement, JFE Steel will support Jindal Stainless in enhancing product quality and manufacturing practices for the specified grades. The collaboration will leverage JFE Steel’s expertise in ferritic stainless steel manufacturing, with a focus on strengthening processes, operational practices and technical capabilities.
Ferritic stainless steel grades are used across a range of applications, including automotive components, railway coaches, kitchen equipment, industrial machinery and construction. Their relatively lower nickel content compared with austenitic grades also makes them an important segment for cost-sensitive applications.
“JFE Steel’s decades of expertise in ferritic stainless steel manufacturing will help us further strengthen product quality and operational excellence. More importantly, this association is about building capabilities that create greater value for our customers by strengthening our people, processes, and practices through this agreement,” Jindal Stainless Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal said.
Focus on value-added stainless steel
The agreement comes amid rising demand for stainless steel across automotive, infrastructure, railways and process industries, where corrosion resistance, durability and lower lifecycle costs are supporting greater adoption.
The collaboration is expected to help Jindal Stainless strengthen its capabilities in ferritic grades and improve its ability to cater to higher-value applications. Industry estimates indicate that demand for ferritic stainless steel is expected to grow steadily over the coming decade, supported by increasing preference for cost-efficient and sustainable material solutions.
Jindal Stainless expands manufacturing capabilities
Jindal Stainless reported an annual turnover of Rs 42,955 crore in FY’26. As of March 2026, the company had 16 stainless steel manufacturing and processing facilities across India and overseas, including operations in Spain and Indonesia, along with a global network spanning 12 countries.
The latest technical collaboration with JFE Steel is part of the company’s broader focus on strengthening its product portfolio and manufacturing capabilities, particularly in value-added stainless steel grades. The partnership could support greater localisation of specialised grades and help Jindal Stainless address growing demand from automotive, railway and industrial applications.
