- Jindal Stainless seeks anti-dumping duties on imports
- China, Indonesia, Vietnam, South Korea key import sources
Jindal Stainless has called on the Indian government to impose anti-dumping duties to protect the domestic stainless steel industry from a surge in imports.
Imports currently represent around 36% of India’s stainless steel consumption, with China, Indonesia, Vietnam, and South Korea as key sources. These imports have been a significant challenge for the domestic industry, impacting growth and investment. The Indian Stainless Steel Development Association has formally sought anti-dumping duties through the Directorate General of Trade Remedies to address this issue and level the playing field for Indian producers.
Despite export uncertainties due to changing global tariff policies, especially in the US and European markets, Jindal Stainless remains confident about domestic demand. The company projects a 9-10% volume growth in the Indian market for this fiscal year. It also aims to boost monthly exports to 22,000-25,000 tonnes, up from 16,000-18,000 tonnes in the previous fiscal year, underscoring its balanced focus on both domestic growth and international markets.
