- New wet milling plant to be constructed at Jajpur facility
- Jindal to invest INR 1,300 crore to build facility by Oct’26
Jindal Stainless, India’s largest stainless steel producer, has announced the doubling of its slag processing capacity to 0.72 million tonnes (mnt) with a new wet milling plant at its Jajpur, Odisha, facility. This capacity expansion aligns with JSL’s commitment to circular production, enabling the recovery of valuable metals from industrial waste streams and promoting sustainable manufacturing practices.
The company will be investing INR 1,300 crore ($150 million) to establish its second wet milling plant of 0.36 mnt by October 2026.
The wet milling plant is designed to enhance the company’s ability to recycle and reuse slag generated during steel production, reducing environmental impact and conserving natural resources. By improving slag processing efficiency, JSL is advancing its goal of integrating eco-friendly processes without compromising product quality.
This strategic initiative also supports cost savings and resource optimisation, helping the company meet growing regulatory and market expectations for sustainability in the metals industry. The expanded facility will enable JSL to contribute more significantly to India’s green manufacturing landscape while maintaining competitive production capabilities.
