Western India based pellet maker – Jindal SAW has resumed pellet offers this week after it underwent more than a month’s shut down amid nationwide lockdown. As per the sources, current offers of pellets (Fe 63%) stand at INR 8,000/MT (delivered Kandla) against offers of INR 8,500/MT a month back.
As per the sources, they may start pellet production most probably from 8th May 2020.
Jindal SAW runs a 1.5 MnT pellet plant in Bhilwara (Rajasthan) and is a key supplier of pellets to Gujarat based steel mills.
Chinese spot iron ore fines (Fe 62%) prices stand at USD 84/MT CFR China as on 30 Apr’20 stable towards the end of last week. However, on a monthly basis index prices are down by USD 2/MT CFR China. Imported lump bookings have remained slow as mills had either curtailed or suspended operations.
