India: Jharkhand hikes cess on coal, iron ore to boost revenue

The Jharkhand government has approved a fourfold increase in cess on mined minerals to boost state revenue. The cess on coal per tonne rose from INR 100 to INR 250, while iron ore saw a hike from INR 100 to INR 400. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
