India is the world’s 4th largest iron ore producer. According to the recently released data by Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India, the country produced 18.5 MnT iron ore in Apr’17 which was 6% lower compared to the production of 19.6 MnT in Mar’17.
Indian iron ore production has seen a growth of 9% Y-o-Y compared to the numbers of Apr’16 where the iron ore production stood at 17 MnT.
Odisha Iron Ore Output Stable in Apr’17
Odisha is India’s largest iron ore producing state which contributes to 50% in country’s ore output. Odisha’s iron ore production was stable at 9.06 MnT in Apr’17 against 9.05 MnT in Mar’17. According to provisional data of Odisha govt. Maintained with SteelMint, the output (comprising of lump, fines & concentrate) had a slight increase of 0.11% in Apr’17.
NMDC Iron Ore Production Down 19% in Apr’17
Iron ore production by India’s single largest iron ore producer-National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) was recorded at 2.98 MnT in Apr’17 against 3.7 MnT in Mar’17. However it was up 35% Y-o-Y compared to Apr’17.
