India: Iron ore lump import offers rise on stiff global prices

Offers for South African iron ore lump imports into India have increased, tracking a hike in global prices. The current assessment for imported lump (Fe 65%) stands at $270/t, CNF Kandla, up by $20/t w-o-w. Meanwhile, the benchmark global iron ore fines (Fe 62%) index has increased to $221/t, CNF China, on 18 Jun’21, on a sharp hike in iron ore futures amid upbeat market sentiments and a shortfall from key suppliers. Also, the spot lump premium has witnessed a sharp hike to $0.7035/dry metric tonne per unit (dmtu) against $0.5600/dmtu assessed towards the beginning of last week.
