India: Iron ore concentrate prices remain rangebound, trades muted

Iron ore concentrate prices in Jabalpur, central India, remained rangebound this week amid the ongoing monsoon season.

SteelMint’s assessment of Fe 63% concentrate prices currently stands at around INR 3,100/tonne (t) exw, stable as against the last assessment on 20 August.

Some offers were heard higher at INR 3,500/t exw. However, no trades have been reported at current offers.

During the monsoon season, iron ore availability in India remains a concern owing to low production and dispatches. This seems to be supporting iron ore concentrate prices, SteelMint understands.

Outlook

Iron ore concentrate prices are likely to remain supported after the end of the monsoon season. However, the deciding factor could be the movement of pellet and iron ore prices.
