India: Industrial power tariffs raised to INR 5.5/unit in Punjab

Punjab State Power Corporation has raised tariffs for medium and large industries to INR 5.5 per kvah for five years with a 3% yearly increase, effective 1 April. This would increase power bills by INR 0.6/unit. However, there shall be no increase in the existing fixed electricity tariffs.

Besides, a current variable tariff of INR 5.37 per kvah has been fixed by the state power regulator for small industries.
