India and the European Union (EU) have launched an EUR 15.2 million (~INR 169 crore) joint initiative under the India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) to strengthen EV battery recycling and critical mineral recovery. The programme, funded through Horizon Europe and India’s Ministry of Heavy Industries, will focus on lithium, graphite, and cobalt recovery, advanced recycling technologies, and digitalised collection systems. Proposal submissions for the initiative will remain open until 15 Sep’26.
