CoalMint data shows that in Apr-May’22 India imported about 1.87 mnt of all types of coal from Russia after the invasion of Ukraine started on 24 Feb. The highest imports were of PCI coal followed by thermal coal. JSW Steel was the top buyer of Russian coal followed by AM/NS India and JSPL. No payment mechanism in INR-Rouble exists and transactions took place in USD.
