On 27 Jan’15, RINL had floated notice for sale of Nut coke available at its Coke oven department via forward e-auctions and invited online bidding from interested participants.
As the company received no response, it decided to offer Nut coke through open sales. The company has stockpile of nearly 1.5-2 lac tonnes as of now and produces more than 20,000 MT per month.
For Feb’15, RINL is offering Nut coke at INR 12,300/MT (basic price). The company is also offering discount of up to INR 1,000/MT on lifting of bulk quantities.

Specifications (max) of RINL Nut coke (10-25 mm) are 5% total moisture, 1.5% volatile matter in dry basis, 16% ash, 82% fixed carbon in dry basis (min) and 0.6% sulphur.
As RINL is offering the material on “As is where is and no complaint basis”, anticipated possibilities of variation in FC, moisture and under size between imported Nut coke and RINL’s material has made imported Nut coke competitive to RINL’s material and equates the price difference between the two.
Traders are offering Chinese Nut coke to Indian importers in the price range of USD 180-190/MT, CIF India. Small sized (5-15 mm) Nut coke offers are USD 179-185/MT, CFR India and offers for big sized (10-30 mm) are USD 185-190/MT, CFR India. Customers, who procure in bulk quantities may be able to negotiate at around USD 179-182/MT, CFR India for small sized (5-15 mm).
