India: Imported manganese ore inches up w-o-w amid rising manganese alloys prices

  • Eramet Comilog’s Feb’26 price hike adds upward pressure on manganese alloys market
  • Weekly Cargo arrivals down by 18% at Indian port

India’s imported manganese ore prices continued their upward trend, supported by rising manganese alloy prices and limited ore availability at ports. In response to tight supply conditions, key miners increased prices across all ore grades.

  • Australian high-grade ore (Mn 46%): Prices increased by around $0.21/dmtu w-o-w to about $5.47/dmtu CNF Haldia/Vizag.
  • Gabonese high-grade ore (Mn 44%): Prices increased by approximately $0.19/dmtu w-o-w to around $5.11/dmtu CNF Haldia/Vizag.
  • South African lumps (Mn 37%): Prices rose by $0.06/dmtu w-o-w at $4.34/dmtu CNF Haldia/Vizag.

Market overview

Eramet Comilog raises manganese ore prices for Feb’26: Eramet Comilog, a leading manganese ore exporter from Gabon, has set its February 2026 shipment prices at $4.90/dmtu CIF China for Mn 44.5% lumps and $4.70/dmtu for Mn 43% chips, both up by $0.20/dmtu m-o-m. The price hike has added pressure on Indian smelters, as limited availability at exporting ports continues to tighten supply and rising prices of ore is increasing cost of production.

Firm smelter offers and steel demand support manganese alloy prices: Manganese alloy prices inched up w-o-w. Indian silico manganese (60-14) prices rose by around INR 975/t ($11/t) w-o-w to INR 70,800–71,400/t ($788–794/t) across Durgapur, Raipur, Raigarh, and Vizag. Prices were supported by buyer acceptance of higher offers, firm smelter pricing, rising manganese ore costs, tight availability, and a modest recovery in steel demand.

Meanwhile, HC 65-16 silico manganese prices remained stable w-o-w at $908/t FOB Vizag/Haldia.
Ferro manganese (HC 70%) prices increased by INR 200/t ($2/t) w-o-w to INR 71,700/t ($798/t) in Durgapur and INR 72,000/t ($801/t) in Raipur, driven by sustained demand from the steel sector and limited spot availability, which encouraged sellers to raise offers across key producing regions. However, HC 75% ferro manganese prices edged down by $1/t w-o-w to $895/t FOB Vizag/Haldia.

Imported cargo arrivals fall w-o-w: Weekly manganese ore cargo arrivals (Mn37%, Mn44%, and Mn46%) to India decreased by 18% to 149,082 t over 26-31 December against 182,850 t in the previous week.

Outlook

Manganese ore prices are expected to remain firm in the near term, supported by rising manganese alloy prices, higher benchmark offers from key miners, and persistent supply tightness at exporting ports. Price hikes announced by major suppliers, including Gabonese producers, have set a higher reference for the seaborne market, limiting downside risk.
