India: IF rebar mills in West Bengal raise diameter parity by INR 500-1,000/t amid higher input costs

  • 8 mm, 28 mm, 32 mm parity raised by INR 1,000/t
  • Revision effective for transactions from 21 Sep

Induction furnace (IF) rebar mills in Durgapur, West Bengal, have revised diameter-wise parity by INR 500-1,000/t effective 21 September 2026, marking the second revision this year as higher raw material costs continue to pressure production economics.

The sharpest increase of INR 1,000/t has been applied to 8 mm, 28 mm, and 32 mm rebar, with their parity revised to Basic + INR 8,000/t from Basic + INR 7,000/t. For 10-25 mm sizes, the differential has increased by INR 500/t to Basic + INR 6,000/t from Basic + INR 5,500/t.

The latest adjustment follows the earlier parity revision on 30 March, indicating continued pressure from higher raw-material costs. The steeper increase for the extreme diameters widens their premium over the basic price, while the 10-25 mm segment sees a comparatively moderate adjustment.

The revision comes against a firm broader steel market, with strong demand and declining trade inventories supporting steel prices. Higher input costs and firm finished-steel prices are providing mills scope to revise diameter premiums and pass through part of the increase in production costs.
