The average monthly hot rolled coil (HRC)-cold rolled coil (CRC) spread hit a 15-month high in January 2024, at INR 7,700/tonne (t) ($93/t). This has edged closer to the level of INR 8,800 ($106/t) in October 2022, reveals BigMint’s data. On a m-o-m basis, this spread is nearly flat against INR 7,300/t ($89/t) in December 2023, and INR 7,400/t ($88/t) in November 2023. The expanding spread can be attributed to the declining trend in HRC prices whereas CRCs were somewhat more resilient.
