India: Hindalco delivers strong FY’25 performance with record aluminium EBITDA

  • EBITDA from upstream aluminium business surges 78%
  • Hindalco’s copper segment sees 16% increase in EBITDA

Hindalco Industries Limited delivered a robust performance in FY’25, posting a consolidated revenue of INR 2.38 lakh crore, up 10% y-o-y, while profit after tax surged 58% to INR 16,002 crore. This growth was driven by strong operating leverage, cost optimisation, and focused downstream value creation.

The upstream aluminium business recorded a historic EBITDA of INR 16,262 crore, rising 78% y-o-y, supported by lower input costs and improved realisations. The downstream aluminium segment also witnessed healthy growth, with EBITDA up 16% y-o-y to INR 633 crore. Hindalco’s copper segment continued to deliver solid returns, registering INR 3,025 crore in EBITDA, an increase of 16%.

Novelis, Hindalco’s US-based subsidiary, reported a 6% revenue increase to $17.15 billion. Despite a marginal 4% drop in EBITDA to $1.80 billion, the business maintained strong shipments and margins amid higher scrap costs and product mix challenges.

On the sustainability front, Hindalco recycled 85% of its total waste in FY’25, with water recycling maintained at 25% of total consumption. Renewable energy capacity stood at 189 MW, with a goal of reaching 300 MW by Q1FY’26. Eight out of 19 plants are now Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWTL) certified.

Strategic capital investments continued across aluminium and copper businesses, including expansions at Aditya Aluminium and the Bay Minette rolling facility in the US, which is 90% engineered.

Hindalco remains committed to delivering long-term value through operational excellence, green energy adoption, and circular economy leadership.
