India: GPIL’s Pellet Plant takes a Maintenance Shut Down

Godawari Power and Ispat Limited (GPIL) has informed the Stock Exchange that the company’s Iron Ore Pelletization plant shall take a shut down for about 2 months.

The Pellet plant is located in Siltara Industrial Complex, Raipur, Chhattisgarh and has an installed capacity of 0.6 million tonnes per annum. Owing to maintenance and replacement of refractories lining and change of machining parts of travel grate, the plant would be non operational for 2 months.

GPIL is the largest Iron Pellet manufacturer based in India’s central region; total installed capacity stands at 1.8 million tonnes per annum. The company recently raised Pellet prices by INR 500/MT to 8,600 (basic) because of rise in Iron ore fines prices in Odisha.

According to experts, “low supply of Pellets will not impact steel prices in central India, as additional Iron ore mining capacities from Odisha based miners, will offset low availability of Pellets.”
