India: Govt proposes new incentives to scrap BS-II, older emissions standard vehicles

The Indian government is offering new incentives to scrap old, polluting vehicles, such as those conforming with BS-II and earlier emissions standards. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has proposed a 50% discount on new vehicle purchases after scrapping these, up from the current 25% for personal vehicles and 15% for commercial ones, to reduce pollution and encourage eco-friendly alternatives.
