Major state-owned logistics and port entities, including the Shipping Corporation of India, Container Corporation of India, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, Sagarmala Finance Corporation, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, and Chennai Port Authority, signed an MoU on 03 Feb’26 to establish the Bharat Container Shipping Line. The initiative is aimed at strengthening India’s container shipping capabilities, reducing dependence on foreign carriers, and advancing maritime self-reliance.
