India: Godawari Power and Ispat enhancing captive iron ore capacity

Central India-based steelmaker Godawari Power and Ispat Ltd (GPIL) has recently conveyed the company’s plans of enhancing iron ore production capacity. The company has received environmental clearance for expansion plans which include:

  • Boosting iron ore production capacity from 1.405 mn t to 2.35 mn t per annum from mining operations in Ari Dongri mines Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district. The company plans to start production at enhanced capacity in the next two-three months and meet 100% of its raw material requirements from captive sources.
  • Setting up an iron ore beneficiation plant of 0.6 mn t/year capacity.
