India: Global Manganese Ore Miners Firm on Offers

The price of seaborne Manganese Ore to India is still firm as there is no price reduction from big miners. Tight supply of Manganese ore from South Africa and Gabon has however eased, but steady demand from alloys smelters in China supported firm offer prices.

There are no major changes in the offers of imported manganese ore as such, as the big miners have maintained the same prices for Nov’17 shipments. Current offers for South African 37% carbonate ore are at USD 5.8/dmtu. Similarly, Australian 45%-46% manganese ore offer is stable at USD 6.85/dmtu CIF India, while offers for Gabon 44% ore is at USD 6.5/dmtu CIF India.

While there has been no pressure on miners from Chinese and Indian buyers to cut prices as Manganese Alloy prices remain relatively firm, there is no price reduction in the offing.

Imported Manganese Ore prices are expected to remain stable at least for the time being, however depending on how the Chinese buyers and traders react after they are back from the National Day Holiday. Most Chinese buyers are secured with stock for November.
