- Demand remains steady; procurement continues on a need basis
- Tight prime scrap availability lifts Low Mn CR-busheling prices
Foundry scrap prices in India remained largely stable w-o-w as of 14 Jul 2026. Demand from the automotive and engineering casting sectors remained steady, while procurement activity continued on a need basis. Plate scrap prices remained stable across most regions, whereas selective tightness in prime-grade scrap availability supported a rise in Low Mn CR-busheling prices.
Regional price commentary
Kolhapur (West India)
Foundry plate (4-8 mm) prices remained unchanged w-o-w at INR 38,200/t, while Low Mn CR-busheling prices increased by INR 700/t to INR 42,000/t. Market participants attributed the increase to limited availability of prime-grade scrap and steady buying interest from foundries.
Coimbatore (South India)
Foundry plate (8-50 mm) prices increased by INR 400/t w-o-w to INR 38,800/t, while Low Mn CR-busheling prices rose by INR 1,200/t to INR 44,500/t. The increase was driven by tight supply of prime-grade scrap and sustained demand from engineering and automotive casting units.
Chennai (South India)
Foundry plate (8-50 mm) prices remained stable at INR 36,800/t, while Low Mn CR-busheling prices increased by INR 900/t w-o-w to INR 42,500/t. Healthy demand and constrained availability of prime-grade scrap supported the price increase.
Kolkata (East India)
Foundry plate (4-8 mm) prices remained stable w-o-w at INR 38,700/t. The market remained balanced, with steady demand and adequate local scrap availability.
Outlook
Foundry scrap prices are expected to remain largely stable in the near term, supported by steady demand from casting and engineering manufacturers. However, continued tightness in the availability of prime-grade scrap is likely to keep Low Mn CR-busheling prices supported across key foundry hubs.
