India imported around 2.08 mn t of flat steel products during Jan-Jul ’20, down by 44% y-o-y as against 3.7 mn t in the CPLY. South Korea remained the largest source of imports at 1.08 mn t. Costlier imports due to high global prices and comparatively cost effective domestic offers kept imports on lower side. However on monthly basis, imports have increased by 28% in Jul’20.
