A fire broke out in Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur plant premises at around 10 am today morning, resulting in three contract workers sustaining minor injuries. However, no disruption to production or regular operations was reported, as per latest updates available with SteelMint.
Company sources divulged that a loud bang was initially heard near the non-operational coke oven 6 at the integrated facility and soon after flames could be seen leaping up to the horizon. The coke oven battery was non-operational and was under the process of being dismantled.
The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, company sources said.
“Our emergency response team immediately reached the incident site and the area was cordoned off. The situation has been brought under control,” a company source said.
