India: Finished steel consumption rises by 1% on month in Jul’21

India’s finished steel consumption grew marginally by 1% to 7.62 million tonnes (mn t) in Jul’21 compared with 7.56 mn t in the preceding month, as per JPC data accessed by SteelMint. Demand for finished flat products is relatively better than long steel products as none of the players in the infrastructure segment are currently making bulk purchases. Moreover, in the Jul-Aug period steel demand generally remains sluggish owing to the monsoons.
