Indian Rebar market has witnessed a sharp fall of INR 500-1,000/MT in a week. In addition, gauge difference has increased by INR 300-500/MT in Durgapur.
Central India
Among all the Indian Rebar market, prices in Raipur has declined sharply by INR 1,000/MT in a week’s time. This in turn has made the prices competitive compared to other market, which led to more buying interest. Currently, 12 mm Rebar in Raipur is being offered at INR 29,800/MT.
Presently, Rebar prices in Indore (MP) is hovering in the range of INR 37,800-38,500/MT (Excise included, VAT extra). However, the same material from Raipur to MP region is offered at around INR 35,500-36,000/MT FoR; cheaper by INR 1,500-2,000/MT.
As per a manufacturer in Indore, “Currently, lesser booking has been made from the local manufacturers because of competitive Rebar prices in Raipur. The only disadvantage is it takes a week to deliver the material from Raipur to MP region. However, local manufacturers in Indore deliver it in a day or two”.
Western Market
Low imported offer for Scrap and Billet has pull down the domestic Ingot prices by INR 600-800/MT in Western region, which led to decline in Rebar prices by INR 800/MT W-o-W.
As per a Rebar trader in Gujarat, “Currently, 12 mm Rebar is being offered at INR 38,000/MT, FoR in Ahmadabad and market seems to be trading at lower rate. But, market participants are expecting that prices are unlikely to further fall from these levels.”
TMT Gauge Difference Change in Durgapur
In Durgapur, TMT gauge difference has increased by INR 300-500/MT for all sizes, which is wef 11 Feb, 2015.
