India: Fewer buyers for Iron ore in Karnataka’s E-auction

Metal Scrap Trade Corporation (MSTC), a Government of India Enterprises, has declared Iron ore e-auction results for NMDC & Private Iron ore mines in Karnataka held on 10 & 11 Mar, 2014.

NMDC had offered 236,000 MT Iron ore, out of which only 100,000 MT was purchased. Private mines had offered 820,000 MT of which only 64,000 MT purchased. 1 MnT Iron ore was offered in which 17%  of Iron ore sold.

JSW was the biggest buyer  with 88,000 MT Iron ore followed by SLR Metaliks. Iron ore fines price increased by 15% and lumps by 2%. Fewer buyer for ore as the prices are high  as well as sluggish steel demand across India.
