India: Ferrous scrap imports up 4% m-o-m in Jan’23

India’s ferrous scrap imports stood at 1.52 mnt in Jan’23, an increase of 4% from 1.46 mnt in Dec’22.
The largest supplier was USA at 443,498 t followed by the UK at 319,412 and the UAE at 77,848 t.
On y-o-y basis, import volume saw a boost of 406%.
India’s scrap imports have improved from June’22. This year too, the country is expected to import significant volume.
