India: Ferrous scrap imports down y-o-y in H1CY’21

India recorded ferrous scrap import volumes at 2.04 mn t in H1CY’21, down by 12% y-o-y against 2.32 mn t in H1CY’20, as per data maintained with SteelMint.
Preference to domestic scrap and sponge iron limited scrap import bookings.
The UAE continued to be the largest supplier to India, at 0.64 mn t in H1CY’21 followed by the UK and the US at 0.17 mn t and 0.15 mn t respectively.
