India: Ferro titanium prices remain stable amid routine purchasing activity

  • Need-based buying continues but suppliers do not face inventory pressure
  • Chinese prices strengthen on tight availability, higher special steel production

India’s ferro titanium prices remained stable w-o-w at INR 370,000/t ($3,874/t) exw-India, as steady supply and demand, kept the market balanced. Trading activity remained stable, with buyers continuing to procure against requirements and suppliers facing limited pressure to adjust prevailing offers.

India’s stainless steel market remained firm but cautious, supported by tight raw material availability and elevated alloy costs. Domestic 304 scrap prices rose by INR 1,000/t w-o-w to INR 151,000/t ($1,581/t) DAP Delhi, while imported scrap offers also increased amid constrained availability and higher inspection and freight costs. However, moderate demand, nickel volatility and cautious import activity continued to limit broader price gains.

China’s ferro titanium market turned strongly bullish, supported by concentrated September steel mill tenders and increased production of special and titanium-containing steel. Order-based production has tightened spot availability, with some producers holding full order books and resisting lower offers. High-grade ferro titanium has seen stronger upward momentum than low-grade material despite declining sponge titanium costs.

Outlook

India’s ferro titanium prices are expected to remain stable in the coming week, supported by balanced supply-demand conditions and regular buying. However, cautious stainless steel demand may limit gains, while firming Chinese ferro titanium prices could provide support.
