India: Ferro titanium prices decline in recent trades

  • Availability of lower-priced material pressures offers
  • Firm seller offers limit sharper price declines

India’s ferro titanium prices declined by INR 7,000/t ($73/t) w-o-w to INR 363,000/t ($3,775/t) exw on 1 October 2026. Few deals were concluded at lower levels of around INR 355,000/t ($3,691/t) exw-India, while some sellers continued to hold offers at INR 370,000/t ($3,847/t). The availability of lower-priced material and limited buying interest pushed the overall market lower, although firm seller offers prevented a sharper correction.

Meanwhile, India’s stainless steel finished market remained firm but cautious, supported by steady domestic demand, firm scrap prices and elevated input costs. At the same time, buyers continued to focus on immediate requirements amid nickel price volatility and high freight costs, keeping flat-product activity moderate. Stainless steel scrap prices remained largely stable, with tight spot availability and firm offers providing support despite softer nickel prices and growing interest in alternative raw materials.

China’s ferro titanium market remained weak and subdued, with holiday-related trading suspension leaving demand and transactions largely inactive. Most producers halted or reduced operations, while new order negotiations nearly stopped and some suppliers showed greater willingness to discount. Softer sponge titanium weakened cost support for higher-grade material, while stable aluminium powder continued to support lower grades.

Outlook

India’s ferro titanium prices might remain under pressure in the coming week as lower-priced deals and cautious buying weigh on the market. However, firm seller offers and balanced supply could limit sharp declines.
