SteelMint spoke to a top official from IDCOL (Industrial Development Corporation Odisha Ltd.) regarding the current market scenario of Ferro Chrome. According to him, “Ferro Chrome Market in Odisha is not very encouraging at present. Price for HC Ferro Chrome was opened at around Rs 64,500/MT Ex-plant in the last tender.”
Speaking about a recent tender he added, “We have floated another tender which is to be opened on 12th of November. The participants are required to quote price per MT on 60% Cr. scale fraction prorata basis Ex-IFCAL Jajpur . But looking at the bleak market situation for Ferro Chrome and the pertaining uncertainty over the supply of Chrome ore from OMC, it is difficult to say what could be the outcome of the tender”.
Speaking about the chrome ore supply, he said, “We have our own mines for Chrome ore but high grade ore have almost exhausted from our mine and we are planning to start operations in another mine in next 1-2 years. So, till then we are beneficiating low grade chrome ore and as well as procuring high grade chrome ore from OMC”.
