India: Ferro alloys units receive govt. approval for oxygen supply

The Committee of Empowered Group of Secretaries (EG2), in consultation with the Ministry of Steel, has approved the use of oxygen by steel plants and the ferro alloys industry, as SteelMint gleaned from a government order dated 18 May’21. This came after an Indian Steel Association (ISA) representation highlighting the need for oxygen for ferro alloys units in the country that supply to steel plants which, in turn, are producing large quantities of medical oxygen to tackle the second wave of the pandemic. The total oxygen requirement of ferro alloys units is around 17 t per day and 49 such units have received the approval for supply of oxygen.
