India: Ferro Alloy Exports Slides Down in Jan’18

According to Indian customs, the country has witnessed a decrease of 11% M-o-M in its ferro alloy exports in Jan’18.

India exported 0.16 MnT in Jan’18 against 0.18 MnT in Dec’17. However, on yearly basis, Indian ferro alloy exports recorded an increase of 7% as it was 0.15 MnT in Jan’17.

Indian Ferro Chrome exports witness a decrease of 14% M-o-M as it went down to 0.06 MnT in Jan’18 against 0.07 MnT in Dec’17. Similarly, Indian Silico Manganese exports also recorded a fall of 13%, as it was 0.07 MnT in Jan’18 against 0.08 MnT in Dec’17. While Ferro Manganese exports remain stable at 0.03 MnT.

In Jan’18, China, South Korea, Taiwan, UAE, and Japan were major importers of Indian ferro alloys, having imported a similar quantity of 0.02 MnT each followed by others. On monthly basis, China and UAE registered an increase of 100% in their imports as they imported 0.01 MnT each in the previous month while it remained stable for Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea which imported 0.02 MnT each in Dec’17 as well.
