The Indian government has extended the mandate for imported coal-based power plants to operate at full capacity until 15 Oct’24, anticipating high electricity demand during summer and heatwaves. Additionally, the emergency clause of the Electricity Act, 2003, requiring these plants to run at full capacity has been extended until 31 Oct’24, instead of 30 Jun’24.
