Iron Ore Export from India increased by 8.3% M-o-M in Feb ‘14

India has exported around 18 MnT Iron ore in FY13 and around 13.1 MnT in the current fiscal year (till Feb’14). Export is likely to reach around 14-15 MnT in FY14. Iron ore export has fallen owing to mining ban in some states such as Karnataka ( Jul’2011) & Goa (Sep’12).

Iron ore export has increased marginally in Feb’14 by 8.3% M-oM. Exports went up because of increase in re-stocking after China Lunar New Year Holiday. In Jan’14 export from India was about 1,023,918 MT which increased to 1,108,580 MT in Feb’14. 

Spot Iron ore prices in Feb’14 had declined by USD 8/MT M-o-M to about USD 121/MT against USD 129/MT CNF China in Jan’14. 

  • India exported 1.1 MnT Iron ore in Feb’14
  • Rungta Mines exported highest quantity of Iron ore at 180,000 MT
  • Iron ore export from Paradip port increased by 29% M-o-M in Feb’14 to about 646,950 MT
  • Exports went up because of increase in re-stocking after China Lunar New Year Holiday.
