India: ERW patra pipe prices show mixed trends w-o-w across key regions

  • Raipur prices fall INR 300/t as weak pipe demand and working capital constraints weigh on trade
  • Mandi Gobindgarh prices rise INR 200/t on improved enquiries and higher raw material costs

ERW patra pipe prices (41-60 mm OD) recorded mixed week-on-week (w-o-w) movements across key markets in the week ended 23 October 2026. Prices declined in Raipur amid subdued demand and working capital constraints, while Mandi Gobindgarh prices edged higher on improved enquiries and rising raw material costs.

On a day-on-day (d-o-d) basis, ERW patra pipe prices in Raipur fell by INR 300/t to INR 49,200/t ex-works (exw) on 23 October from INR 49,500/t on 22 October. In Mandi Gobindgarh, prices declined by INR 500/t to INR 51,500/t exw from INR 52,000/t a day earlier.

Weekly price trends

Raipur: ERW patra pipe prices declined by INR 300/t w-o-w to INR 49,200/t exw on 23 October from INR 49,500/t a week earlier. Although market enquiries improved slightly, the recovery remained limited, with buyers continuing to procure mainly to meet immediate requirements.

A Raipur-based manufacturer said, “The market is moving very slowly, and the only support is coming from demand for patra coil. Prices could fall further as traders are freeing up working capital ahead of the festive season.”

Mandi Gobindgarh: ERW patra pipe prices increased by INR 200/t w-o-w to INR 51,500/t exw on 23 October from INR 51,300/t a week earlier. The increase was supported by higher raw material costs and a gradual improvement in market enquiries during the week. However, actual transactions continued to take place at discounted levels compared with quoted offers.

A Mandi Gobindgarh-based manufacturer said, “Market demand has been improving over the past few weeks. After a relatively dull period, some enquiries are returning to the market, and trade is taking place at slightly discounted prices compared with the quoted offers.”

Raw material trends

HR strip (patra): HR strip (patra) prices in Raipur declined by INR 100/t w-o-w to INR 48,000/t exw on 23 October from INR 48,100/t a week earlier. In Mandi Gobindgarh, prices increased by INR 200/t to INR 50,500/t exw from INR 50,300/t over the same period.

Billet: Billet prices increased in both markets. In Raipur, prices rose by INR 50/t w-o-w to INR 43,850/t exw on 23 October from INR 43,800/t a week earlier. In Mandi Gobindgarh, prices increased by INR 500/t to INR 46,900/t delivered-at-place (DAP) from INR 46,400/t a week earlier.

Outlook

ERW patra pipe prices are likely to remain mixed in the near term, with improving enquiries and festive buying providing some support. However, subdued demand, liquidity constraints and continued need-based procurement are expected to limit any significant recovery. Prices in both markets will remain sensitive to raw material price movements, while sellers are likely to continue offering discounts to sustain sales and manage working capital ahead of the festive season.
