- Need-based buying kept Raipur prices under downward pressure
- Power cut-led supply disruptions kept Mandi prices elevated
ERW patra pipe prices (41-60 mm OD) showed mixed w-o-w trends across key markets in the week ended 3 July 2026, as supply constraints continued to support prices in Mandi Gobindgarh, while weak demand conditions continued to weigh on Raipur prices.
However, on a d-o-d basis, prices edged lower in both markets. In Raipur, ERW patra pipe prices declined by INR 100/t to INR 45,100/t exw on 3 July from INR 45,200/t exw on 2 July. Similarly, prices in Mandi Gobindgarh fell by INR 100/t to INR 47,500/t exw from INR 47,600/t exw a day earlier. Listed prices are exw and exclude 18% GST.
Weekly price trends
Raipur: ERW patra pipe prices in Raipur edged down by INR 200/t w-o-w to INR 45,100/t exw on 3 July from INR 45,300/t a week earlier.
A Raipur-based manufacturer indicated, “Demand remained largely need-based throughout the week, with buyers restricting purchases to immediate requirements. Enquiry levels also remained weak, reflecting the cautious sentiment prevailing across the market. Looking ahead, the onset of widespread monsoon rains is likely to further dampen trading activity, with seasonal disruptions weighing on demand across key consuming sectors. Consequently, market sentiment is expected to remain subdued, keeping prices under downward pressure in the coming weeks.”
Mandi Gobindgarh: ERW patra pipe prices in Mandi Gobindgarh rose by INR 200/t w-o-w to INR 47,500/t exw on 3 July from INR 47,300/t a week earlier.
A Mandi-based source noted, “Power cuts from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., driven by higher electricity demand amid the irrigation season, significantly disrupted production across mills, further tightening an already constrained supply situation. Market availability had already been limited over the past few weeks, particularly for HR strips and certain pipe sizes, with inventories remaining low. As a result, prices remained marginally elevated during the week, though the upside was limited as trading activity remained largely need-based and was mainly confined to mills with sufficient ready inventories.”
Raw material prices
HR strip (patra): HR Strip (patra) prices in Raipur remained stable w-o-w at around INR 44,500/t exw on 3 July. In contrast, patra prices in Mandi Gobindgarh rose by INR 200/t w-o-w to INR 46,500/t exw on 3 July from INR 46,300/t a week earlier.

Billet: Billet prices in Raipur fell by INR 200/t w-o-w to INR 38,550/t exw on 3 July from INR 38,750/t a week earlier. Similarly, billet prices in Mandi Gobindgarh fell by INR 200/t w-o-w to INR 42,700/t exw on 3 July from INR 42,900/t a week earlier.
Outlook
ERW patra pipe prices are expected to remain under pressure in the coming days, with the overall market likely to remain largely weak amid seasonal rainfall, which continues to weigh on construction activity and demand. Weak demand and need-based buying are likely to keep prices under downward pressure in Raipur. Meanwhile, in Mandi Gobindgarh, although demand remains largely need-based, persistent supply-side disruptions, if they continue, are likely to prevent any significant downside in prices. Overall, price direction will largely depend on the pace of demand recovery and movements in raw material prices.
