India: ERW patra pipe prices fall w-o-w on lower raw material costs

  • Trade activity slows down due to fiscal year-end closing
  • Buyers return to market towards weekend for restocking

ERW patra pipe prices (41-60 mm OD) declined w-o-w on 27 March 2026 in both Raipur and Mandi Gobindgarh, driven by a fall in raw material prices, coupled with sluggish downstream demand.

Trade activity across the two regions remained largely need-based amid weak end-user demand for most of the week. Persistent price corrections kept buyers cautious, resulting in a wait-and-watch approach. However, towards the end of the week, buying activity picked up marginally, supported by a gradual rise in enquiries, indicating a short-term improvement in market sentiment.

A source stated, “The slight uptick in demand was largely driven by replenishment requirements. Market activity had slowed earlier due to year-end closing, but as inventories began to deplete, participants resumed restocking, resulting in a modest improvement in enquiries and order inflows.”

On a d-o-d basis, Raipur prices increased by INR 700/t to INR 45,100/t ex-works (exw) on 27 March from INR 44,400/t exw on 26 March 2026. Similarly, prices in Mandi Gobindgarh rose by INR 400/t to INR 46,900/t exw on 27 March, compared with INR 46,500/t exw a day earlier. Listed prices are ex-works and exclude 18% GST.

However, the extent and sustainability of any price recovery will largely depend on raw material trends and the pace of improvement in end-user demand.
