India: ERW patra pipe prices drop w-o-w amid sluggish demand

  • Patra prices drop by INR 900/t in Raipur, INR 300/t in Mandi
  • Soft demand, easing raw material tags impact pipe prices

ERW patra pipe (41-60 OD) prices showed a downtrend w-o-w in Raipur as well as in Mandi Gobindgarh.
In Raipur, prices stood at around INR 42,900/t exw on 30 May 2025, down by INR 900/t from INR 43,800/t on 23 May. Trade volumes of around 1,000 t were recorded this week.

In Mandi, prices stood at INR 44,800/t, down by INR 300/t w-o-w on Friday against INR 45,100/t in the previous week. Trade volumes of around 1,250 t were recorded this week.

Listed prices are ex-works (exw), excluding 18% GST.

On a d-o-d basis, prices fell by INR 100/t in Raipur against INR 43,000/t, but held steady in Mandi.

The market remained subdued, as demand was largely on a need-only basis.

Raw materials prices decline w-o-w: HR strip (patra) prices declined by INR 800/t w-o-w to INR 42,700/t exw-Raipur as on 30 May compared to INR 43,500/t exw-Raipur on 23 May. Moreover, patra prices in Mandi dropped by INR 200/t w-o-w to INR 43,900/t against INR 44,100/t exw a week ago.

Steel billet prices in Raipur went down by INR 900/t w-o-w to INR 38,950/t exw on 30 May, compared to INR 39,850/t on 23 May. Also, billet prices in Mandi recorded a decline of INR 650/t w-o-w to INR 41,650/t DAP on 30 May, compared to INR 42,300/t last week.

Outlook

ERW patra pipe prices are likely to remain under pressure in the near term amid need-based demand and a continued decline in raw material prices. Furthermore, softening in raw material prices or prolonged muted buying could exert additional pressure on pipe prices in the coming days.
