India: EOI for Empanelment of Suppliers for Imported Steam Coal

MMTC, a leading international trading company in India and one of the major global players in minerals trade, invites “Expression of Interest (EOI)” for empanelment of suppliers of steam coal of foreign origin.

Eligibility Criteria:
• The supplier should have experience of executing cumulative supply of minimum 1.0 Million MT of steam coal during the last three financial years, directly or through PSUs to any steam coal buyer (end user) in India or abroad.
• The supplier should also have, either individually or in joint venture/consortium, stevedored & handled at least 1.0 Million Tons of coal in India to any coal buyer (end user) during the last three financial years either directly or through any PSU.
• The supplier shall have to submit a Solvency certificate from the scheduled bank for an amount of minimum Rs.75 crores or equivalent USD.

Validity of empanelment under this EoI shall be for duration of one year from the date of acceptance by MMTC.

South African steam coal prices have maintained stability since workers union (NUM) had signed three-year wage agreement with domestic coal producers, thus ending the speculation of a possible coal strike in the country. South African Coal index API-4 was assessed at USD 91.6 yesterday.

Indonesian coal prices are expected to uptick in Dec’17, having fallen during the month of Nov’17, once Chinese buyers begin to restock coal for peak winter season.
