- G13 accounts for nearly half of total volume
- Limited volumes of higher-grade G3, G4 on offer
Eastern Coalfields Ltd. (ECL) is set to offer 758,650 t of non-coking coal in its e-auction scheduled for 14 August 2026, covering G3, G4, G5, G9, G11, G12, and G13 grades across multiple mines and loading points. G13 accounts for the largest share at 369,000 t, followed by G11 at 171,650 t and G12 at 98,000 t. Most quantities are offered through road dispatches, while selected mines are available through road and rail.
G13 dominates offered volume
G13 is the largest grade in the catalogue, with 369,000 t from Rajmahal OC, all offered through road dispatch. The representative notified price is INR 1,716/t.
The large G13 offering provides substantial availability of lower-calorific-value coal to industrial consumers. Its concentration in a single mine also makes Rajmahal OC the largest individual source in the auction by volume.
G11 is the second-largest grade, with 171,650 t offered from Rajmahal OC and Hura C OC. Rajmahal OC accounts for 82,050 t, while Hura C OC contributes 89,600 t, with both carrying a notified price of INR 2,154/t.
G12 adds another 98,000 t from Hura C OC, at a notified price of INR 1,801/t.
Together, G11, G12, and G13 account for around 84% of the total offering, showing that the auction remains heavily weighted towards these grades.
G4 availability spread across mines
G4 has a combined offering of 41,500 t, making it the largest higher-grade segment in the catalogue.
The grade is offered from several mines, including Pandaveswar UG, Porascole (W) UG, Chora 7&9 Pit UG, Chora 10 Pit UG, Bansra UG, Amritnagar UG, Bhanora WB UG, Ningha UG, Dhemo Main Pit UG, Dhemomain Incline UG, Narsamuda, Parbelia UG, Patmohona UG, Bankola D, New Kenda OC (H), and Satgram-Sripur A.
The notified price for all G4 offerings is INR 3,557/t.
The largest individual G4 quantities are from New Kenda OC (H) at 5,500 t, Bankola D at 5,000 t, Satgram-Sripur A at 4,500 t, Pandaveswar UG at 4,000 t, Chora 7&9 Pit UG at 4,000 t and Bansra UG at 4,000 t.
The broad mine-wise distribution gives buyers several sourcing options, although individual mine quantities remain relatively small compared with the large G11-G13 offerings.
G3, G5, G9 complete catalogue
G3 offerings total 13,000 t, comprising 3,000 t from Central Kajora UG, 2,000 t from Porascole (E) UG and 8,000 t from Kajora A. The representative notified price is INR 3,719/t.
G5 accounts for 11,500 t, with 7,000 t from Belbaid and 4,500 t from Mugma E. Both carry a notified price of INR 3,275/t.
Meanwhile, 54,000 t of G9 is offered from Salanpur C at a notified price of INR 1,776/t. The grade is available through road and rail dispatches, providing a sizeable lower-grade option alongside G13.
Overall, the catalogue remains concentrated in G13, G11, and G12, while higher-grade G3 and G4 availability is comparatively limited and spread across several mines. The offering provides buyers with a broad range of grades and sourcing points, but the large G13 and G11 volumes indicate that lower and mid-grade coal remain the main focus of the upcoming auction.
