Raipur based steel plants are likely to increase their capacity utilization with easing oxygen supplies. Credible industry sources reported that the local oxygen producers got a verbal permission from the state government to supply about 20% of the produced oxygen to state based steel plants. About 60-70% of total steel plants based in Chhattisgarh are operating at a capacity of 50-60%. The plants had lowered production on oxygen shortage and labour issues amid weak demand due to lockdown. Now from today onwards, the retail segments are allowed to work till 5 p.m. This may ease steel supply & improve demand in the coming days.
