In the wake of new taxation policy GST implemented by Indian government on 1st Jul’17 has resulted to rise in plate prices by INR 1000/MT in domestic market.
In major markets, reference prices (basic) for plates (5-10 mm, IS 2062) are hovering in the range of INR 35,000/MT (ex-Delhi) and INR 35,600-35,700/MT (ex-Mumbai).The prices mentioned above are basic prices excluding GST @ 18%.
A trader based in Mumbai quoted”Buying inquiries have increased but this is for shorter span of time since traders are busy refilling their stocks in domestic market”
Plate export offers continues to remain static
Indian exporters have kept the commercial grade plate export offers unchnaged for this week and are heard in the range of USD 540-545/MT,CFR Europe which is equivalent to USD 500-505/MT, Fob India.
Chinese Plate Export Offer Climbs as Bullish Sentiment Continues in Domestic Market
Chinese mills have raised the plate export offers this week by USD 15-18/MT W-o-W owing to optimistic domestic market.Strengthening domestic market has pushed the Chinese manufacturers to raise the plate exports offers in the global market.
Current plate export offers are assessed in the range of USD 460-468/MT, FoB China.Last week the prices was in the range of USD 445-450/MT,FoB basis.
Meanwhile domestic prices of plate are assessed in the range of RMB 3,430-3,450/MT which is equivalent to USD 504-507/MT including VAT.
Major mills are quoting plate export offers in the range of USD 470/MT,FoB basis.Although few deals have been concluded with South America in the range of USD 480/MT on FoB basis.
