India: Domestic coal market turns silent amid uncertainty over SECL policy

Domestic coal prices remained largely steady this week, with 5,000 GCV at INR 6,250/t ex-Bilaspur and 4,500 GCV easing slightly by INR 100/t to INR 5,200/t. Market activity stayed muted as traders refrained from fresh purchases following SECL’s new grade upgradation policy. With delivery orders delayed and limited lifting, supply concerns are beginning to surface in the domestic coal market.
