According to data released by Statistics and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Car's sales have increased by 0.7% in September 2013.
Domestic passenger Car's sales in India rose to 156,018 units in September, the highest monthly total since beginning of FY14, witnessing a growth of 0.73% in September as compared to sales of 154,884 units a year earlier.
Market leader Maruti Suzuki India recorded a 14.54% growth in domestic sales to 78,975 units in September, 2013 as against 68,957 units in the same period of 2012. Honda Cars India sales were up by 85.64% to 10,220 units. On the other hand, Tata Motors' domestic sales dropped by 42.99% to 9,766 units. Hyundai Motor India posted a marginal decline at 30,580 units compared to sales of 30,795 units last year.
Sales of motorcycles rose by 17.4% in September to 885,117, while truck and bus sales went down by 27% and were at 51,680 units.
Automakers hopes on some recovery in demand during the festive months between September and December, considered to be auspicious by Indians for making big purchases.
