Dhamra Port Company Ltd. has declared force majeure amid the deadly Novel Corona Virus Disease (COVID 19) which has erupted worldwide and declared Global Pandemic by WHO, SteelMint learned from its sources. The force majeure is put to effect from 07:00 hrs on 22nd Mar’20.
In view of the pandemic outbreak, state government and District Administration has taken drastic measures to lockdown the area inhibiting man and material movement to and from the port.
The port hereby has notified that port will not be responsible for any claims, damages, charges, etc. whatsoever, arising out of and/or connected to the Force majeure event, either directly or indirectly, which without any limitation would include vessel demurrages, inter alia due to pre-berthing or any other delays of whatsoever nature and accordingly the discharge rate guaranteed under the agreement shall also not be applicable for all vessels to be handled at port for any delay or disturbance in the port services during the Force majeure period.
Also, the port shall notify the Cessation of Force majeure as per the directives from Central and State Government. The port is endeavoring to continue the essential services from the port with the kind support of Government authorities.
India exported a total of 32.16 MnT iron ore and pellets in CY19, as per data maintained with SteelMint. Dhamra port remained the 2nd largest port for exports with volumes of 4.16 MnT and share of nearly 13%.
