Indian steelmakers churned out 9.751 mn t of crude steel in Oct’21, up 2% compared to 9.547 mn t in Sep, as per provisional data released by the Joint Plant Committee (JPC). Gradual recovery from the second-wave of COVID-19 that struck India earlier this year coupled with leading mills planning to expand steelmaking capacity has resulted in increased steel production.
