According to recently released provisional data by Joint Plant Committee (govt. of India), India’s crude steel production has fallen by 7% M-o-M in Feb’17. India’s crude steel output was recorded at 8.65 MnT in Jan’17 which dropped to 8.08 MnT in Feb’17.
However on yearly basis, crude steel output has improved by 8.5% as in Feb’16 the figure was recorded at 7.45 MnT.
So far in FY17 (till Feb’17), India’s crude steel production has witnessed growth of 9.3% Y-o-Y to 89.08 MnT. In the same period last fiscal, India’s crude steel production stood at 81.47 MnT.
India’s consumption of finished steel declined in Feb’17 – India’s consumption of total finished steel fell 0.2% M-o-M to 7.33 MnT in Feb’17 . However on yearly basis, India’s finished steel consumption increased by 3.4% Y-o-Y and was recorded at 76.23 MnT during Apr’16-Feb’17 against 73.71 MnT in the same period last fiscal.
